U10 Recreational Soccer & U10 Developmental Soccer....What's the difference?

There are three main differences between U10 Recreational soccer and the U10 Developmental soccer program are: Level of Instruction, Time Commitment and Cost.

Level of Instruction

Recreational soccer is coached by volunteer parents who may or may not have in-depth knowledge about the soccer skills and strategies necessary to enhance player development at this age.  Developmental soccer is coached by club selected personnel that have completed various coaching certification courses.  These licensed coaches have many years of playing and coaching experience resulting in broad-based knowledge and perspectives that make them uniquely qualified to take player development and teamwork to the next level while maintaining a fun learning atmosphere!  Our Developmental coaches realize that kids at this age have many different sporting interests and are understanding when a child may be arrive late or miss a practice on occasion.

Time Commitment

Recreational soccer generally has less time commitment.  Typically, there is only one practice per week with most league games being held in the greater Madison area and occasionally in other outlying cities.  Developmental soccer has a greater time commitment.  Practices are held twice a week and, like the recreational soccer league, games a held in the greater Madison area and occasionally in other outlying cities.  Additionally, Developmental teams will participate in 2-3 total tournaments.

Cost

Recreational soccer will cost around $200-$250 which includes:  club registration fees, a game t-shirt, about 1 practice per week (determined by the volunteer coach) and 7-8 league games.  A local tournament may be done if the coach and team agree to do so.
Developmental soccer will cost an estimated $650-$725 which includes:  club registration fees, official club uniform (shorts, 2 jerseys, and socks), two practices per week, coaching fee, 7-8 league games, and 2-3 tournaments.
